Sweet Love Poems

This morning I awoke before sunrise. I couldn't sleep..there is just so much on my mind lately.
I was organizing a pile of papers and came to a notebook with this beautiful little acrostic poem written in it by my two wonderful children. I don't know when they wrote this or what for, but I felt like the luckiest Mama alive reading it in the early morning quiet.

Needless to say, I shed a few tears..

I didn't take a picture of it & quickly stashed it back away because it isn't mine yet..but hopefully, one day very soon, it will be in my hands to frame.

May you too find little bits of love scattered throughout your day...

Gratitude Friday

This week, I am grateful for...

:: Several game nights with the kids that threw us into fits of laughter.

:: Baking a Butter Cake with Mayas 2nd Grade class that turned out delicious.

:: Massaging some wonderful clients. I believe they center me just as much as my massage centers them.

:: The sun finally peeking through last night over the lake. It has been 5 long, gray, dreary days.

:: Hot, organic coffee & Christmas music on the car radio in the morning.

:: Zuzu. My stinky dog who has decided suddenly that it is ok to lay on the couch/chair/bed whenever she pleases. She is getting a bath after this post.

:: Almost finishing Mayas Winter Solstice present.

:: A great book recommendation that kept me up late last night. A Homemade Life by Molly Wizenberg.

What are you grateful for this week?

Blessings,
Sara

My girl

My girl & I...
we like to hike.

I love the way her little, delicate hand feels in mine, just as much as I love the hundreds of freckles that cover her cheeks.

Halloween 2009

Well..it was a scramble til the end as I sat finishing my knitting up until 15 minutes before trick or treating (at a party..lol) but, we made it! And our Halloween couldn't have been better...pumpkin soup..great friends..just the right amount of spookiness...I love this time of year!
I wish you all a blessed Samhain, may your fire burn bright within your circle, may your cakes be light, your bread hearty and your mead stout....and may all the doorways be opened!

Seven year old thinking..

Just the other day, Maya & I were having a talk about why it is important to think before you speak. I was explaining to her how just thinking for a moment makes your choices more meaningful & full of intention. She was wide-eyed taking it all in and then says,
"Mama...whenever I am doing something at school, I turn my brain on like it has a switch on the side of my head *she pretends to click it on* and whenever we move to a new subject, I click and move the first to the back of my brain for safe keeping and then I pull the new subject forward to the front of my head. Isn't that a great idea, Mama?"

It is a great idea, Maya.

I just adore my girl.

Happy Halloween Week!

When witches go riding,

and black cats are seen,

the moon laughs and whispers,

‘tis near Halloween.
